Three Live Music Events Coming to Saugerties This October

The Local Center for Arts and Culture brings international talent to the Hudson Valley

Saugerties continues to cement its reputation as a destination for live music this fall, with three diverse concerts scheduled at The Local Center for Arts and Culture throughout October 2026. The venue, located at 16 John Street in the heart of the village, has become a key stop for touring artists bringing world music, indie rock, and bluegrass to Ulster County.

Lucibela — Wednesday, October 15, 2026

Date: Wednesday, October 15, 2026
Venue: The Local Center for Arts and Culture, 16 John Street, Saugerties, NY
Time: 8:00 PM

Lucibela brings the soulful sounds of Cape Verde to the Hudson Valley. The singer has gained international recognition for her interpretations of morna and coladeira, the traditional music styles made famous by the legendary Cesária Évora. Her voice carries the melancholic beauty of the Atlantic islands, blending Portuguese folk traditions with African rhythms. For audiences unfamiliar with Cape Verdean music, this performance offers a rare opportunity to experience one of the genre's most compelling contemporary voices. Lucibela's recordings have earned critical acclaim across Europe and Africa, and her live performances are known for their intimate, emotionally resonant quality.

Lawrence Rothman — Wednesday, October 21, 2026

Date: Wednesday, October 21, 2026
Venue: The Local Center for Arts and Culture, 16 John Street, Saugerties, NY
Time: 8:00 PM

Lawrence Rothman returns to the stage with a sound that defies easy categorization. The Los Angeles-based artist blends art rock, electronic experimentation, and confessional songwriting into performances that have drawn comparisons to David Bowie and Patti Smith. Rothman's 2020 album "The Book of Law" received widespread critical attention for its genre-defying approach and candid lyrical content. The artist has collaborated with figures across the musical spectrum and built a following among listeners drawn to boundary-pushing pop music. This Saugerties appearance offers Hudson Valley audiences a chance to experience Rothman's theatrical live show in an intimate venue setting.

East Nash Grass — Friday, October 23, 2026

East Nash Grass brings high-energy bluegrass to Saugerties, capping off a month of diverse programming. The Nashville-based ensemble has built a reputation for tight harmonies, virtuosic instrumental work, and a setlist that balances traditional bluegrass standards with original compositions. The band's members come from deep musical backgrounds, bringing influences from folk, country, and Americana into their arrangements. Their live shows are known for audience engagement and the kind of musical interplay that comes from years of touring together. For bluegrass fans in the Hudson Valley, this performance represents a chance to catch a rising act before they hit the larger festival circuit.

Never heard of Lawrence Rothman before so I looked them up. Interesting stuff. The Bowie and Patti Smith comparisons are doing a lot of heavy lifting but I can see what they mean. Might check it out just to see for myself.

Paul DemarestThe Patti Smith comparison is what caught my attention too. I'd say it's more the attitude than the actual sound, but yeah I get it. Either way sounds worth showing up for on a random Wednesday.

East Nash Grass on a Friday night sounds great but I wish they'd mix in a weekend show once in a while. Wednesday concerts are tough for people who commute. Just saying, not everyone can make it work mid-week.

greg_hvI hear you. Feels like the Friday and Saturday slots always go to cover bands at the bigger bars. Venues like The Local probably have to work around touring schedules though. Artists aren't always passing through on a weekend.

Lucibela is absolutely incredible. I saw her perform in Lisbon a few years back and honestly could not believe what I was hearing. So glad The Local is bringing her to Saugerties. That room is going to be perfect for her music.

Terri MaloneWow, saw her in Lisbon? That must have been something. I had no idea who she was before reading this article but now I'm actually excited for that show. The Local really is the right size for that kind of performance.
