Harvest the Hudson Returns: 17 Days, 6 Wineries, One Unforgettable Wine Trail Adventure |
From September 14–30, 2026, the Shawangunk Wine Trail invites you to explore six Hudson Valley wineries at your own pace with their signature fall event — Harvest the Hudson. |
What Is Harvest the Hudson?
Harvest the Hudson is a self-guided wine tasting event celebrating the fall grape harvest across the Hudson Valley's cool-climate vineyards. For 17 days, your $35 Wine Tasting Pass unlocks an exclusive tasting flight of up to four wines at each of six participating wineries — no reservations required.
This year's event highlights the varieties that thrive in the region's unique terroir: bold Cabernet Franc, aromatic Riesling, crisp Seyval Blanc, and other distinctive cool-climate wines that put the Hudson Valley on the map for wine enthusiasts.
The Six Participating Wineries
Each stop along the trail offers its own character and story:
Two of the six — Whitecliff Vineyard in Gardiner and City Winery in Montgomery — are just minutes from New Paltz, making this an easy weekend excursion from the village. How It Works
There's no set itinerary or deadline. Visit one winery per weekend or all six in a single afternoon — the pass is valid for the entire 17-day window.
Shop, Earn, and Win
Harvest the Hudson isn't just about tasting — it rewards you for stocking up. Purchase eligible bottles at participating wineries and earn tiered rewards:
And the grand prize? The guest who purchases the most bottles across all wineries during the event wins a luxury dining experience for two at the famed Mohonk Mountain House — a $270 value.
Why This Event Matters for New Paltz Wine Lovers
The Shawangunk Wine Trail has become one of the Hudson Valley's premier wine destinations, and Harvest the Hudson is its flagship fall celebration. With Whitecliff Vineyard sitting just 10 minutes from downtown New Paltz, this event is practically in our backyard.
Whether you're a seasoned wine enthusiast or just beginning your wine journey, the event is designed to be approachable. Meet the winemakers, learn about the terroir that shapes each vintage, and discover wines you won't find at your local liquor store.
