Accord Market: The Community Grocery Prioritizing Local Farms |
A locally-owned grocery store in the Town of Rochester that prioritizes local farms and sustainable practices |
In the heart of Accord, a small hamlet in the Town of Rochester, Accord Market has become more than just a grocery store—it's a community hub that prioritizes local farms, sustainable practices, and the kind of personal service that big chains can't match.
A Different Kind of Grocery Store
Accord Market isn't your typical supermarket. Located at 21 Main Street, this community-driven grocery and general store has built its reputation on a simple principle: support local producers while providing residents with high-quality, fresh products.
The market specializes in locally sourced meat, fish, eggs, bread, dairy, and produce. They also carry beer and cider from regional breweries, making it a one-stop shop for those who want to eat and drink local.
Community at the Center
What sets Accord Market apart is its commitment to the community. The store serves as a gathering place where neighbors run into each other, where people ask the staff for cooking recommendations, and where the owners know their customers by name.
The market also offers online ordering, making it convenient for busy families and those who prefer to shop from home while still supporting local agriculture.
Why It Matters
In an era of corporate consolidation and supply chain disruptions, Accord Market represents something important: a business that puts community and sustainability ahead of pure profit. Every dollar spent here stays in the local economy and supports the farmers and producers who make Ulster County's food scene so vibrant.
For visitors and residents alike, Accord Market is worth the trip—not just for the quality products, but for the experience of shopping at a place that genuinely cares about where its food comes from and who it's feeding.

I appreciate what they're doing but let's be honest the prices are not for everyone. Not all of us can afford to shop local every week. Wish there was more conversation about that side of things.
Good on them for keeping money in Ulster County. Every time another chain opens up somewhere nearby a few small places close. Nice to see one that's actually holding on and doing well.
Mike PellegrinoTotally agree. Lost two places I really liked in Stone Ridge over the past few years and both times it felt like a chain moving into the area had something to do with it. Glad Accord Market is still going strong.
Does anyone know which local breweries they carry? That's the part that caught my eye. Would love to grab some regional cider without driving all the way to Kingston.
upstate_lindaI know they've carried stuff from Arrowood Farms in the past, which is literally just down the road. Not 100% sure what's in stock right now but it changes seasonally. Worth calling ahead if you have something specific in mind.
Nice store but I wish the hours were a little longer. Hard to get there after work sometimes. The online ordering helps but I always forget to plan ahead that far.
Been going to Accord Market for a couple years now and the staff really do know you by name. Picked up some eggs from a farm literally down the road last week. You just don't get that at Stop and Shop.
My grandmother used to talk about how every small town had a store like this. Nice to see Accord still has one. These places disappear fast so support it while you can.
Curious what local breweries they carry. Anyone know if they stock Keegan Ales or anything from the New Paltz area? Might be worth a trip just for that.
The online ordering is a game changer. I placed an order last week and picked it up in like 10 minutes. Fresh eggs, local cheddar, a loaf of sourdough. Does not get better than that for a quick weeknight run.
Love the idea but the prices can be pretty steep if you're feeding a family on a tight budget. Not everyone can afford to shop local every week, just being honest.
Been stopping in here for eggs and bread every Saturday for two years now. The staff always remembers my name and my usual order. You just don't get that at ShopRite.
